ORIGINS OF THEME TUNE BOY:
Once upon a time, in an interview with Limerick Independents Ciaran Ryan, Niall explained the origin of Theme Tune Boy
"The name Theme Tune Boy goes back to my time in The Hitchers.
One of our very few non-alcohol based forms of amusement was a very in-house-joke game of Dungeons and Dragons we carried on with where we had various interesting, crude, vulgar identities ...Mine was a super-hero of dubious super-heroic credibility called Theme Tune Boy who could finger-pick an acoustic guitar version of the theme tune of the original Star Trek and knew all the words and chords for the theme tune of H.R. Puffinstuff.
You'd be amazed at how often such seemingly useless super powers can come in handy when you've good script writers...or a bottle of buckfast ...it all works. So when I went looking for a moniker to work under one of the lads suggested I should once again, metaphorically at least , don my cape, mask, outside Y-fronts etc and reassume my Theme Tune Boy persona."
